Job Description:

As an IT Automation Manager at Micron, you will be responsible for all aspects of Host Automation and Automation Material Handling System development and support within Boise s Fab. You will lead and develop the team of software engineers and provide technical leadership for the group. You will assist with handling your direct reports workloads and resolve issues for your team. You will provide a safe, compliant, ethical, and engaging work environment by maintaining current knowledge of requirements and monitoring for compliance of the requirements. You will be expected to be a leader in the collaboration effort with worldwide teams to ensure that we keep in alignment with Micron direction and maintain consistency with the Micron factory network. Your team will participate in 24x7 on-call rotations and you will be required to ensure this is coordinated and planned so that support is prompt and efficient when issues arise.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Act as a liaison between IT & Micron internal customers to meet the internal customers needs
  • Collaborate with IT operations roles and service providers to understand the service needs of the sites and the capabilities of the service providers to meet those needs
  • Help maintain day-to-day operations by ensuring that the service delivery commitments are met and that technical issues are resolved
  • Work with service owners and the SMC operations manager to prioritize & accomplish identified improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrate your experience with IT operations, problem management, change management, issue management, & root cause analysis in your continuous improvement efforts
  • Use your knowledge of costs of providing services to drive unnecessary costs out of the services
  • Solve customer issues on products supported at the Micron sites
  • Create knowledge articles, process and procedure documentation, and training materials. Track or review operational support metrics to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met & to identify areas of improvement
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation, as needed, & provide issue support for site support teams
  • Consult on business change management cases to define the work breakdown structure and hours estimate
  • Meet with your new direct report on his or her first day of employment and review the New Hire Checklist for Supervisors with him or her
  • Set expectations for your direct reports (working hours, taking time off, hours accuracy & compliance, objectives, goals, etc.)
  • Provide your direct reports with the information, technology, and reference materials necessary to perform their jobs
  • Identify training needs and ensure that team members are properly trained according to department compliance and work requirements
  • Work with the IT Training Team to develop programs to close performance gaps, and improve agility and bench-depth
  • Hold your team accountable for meeting job expectations, and following policies and processes
  • Approve budget, cost-bearing training, time-off requests, travel, expense reports, resources, and team member rewards
  • Participate in the hiring process (e.g. Help create the job posting based on the duties to be performed, Screen applicants, Participate in interviews, Document the results of interviews, Select the best-qualified candidate)
  • Partner with site leadership to understand workforce needs. Review team members allocations
  • Analyze workloads, processes, and other metrics to ensure an efficient use of team members
  • Collaborate with your direct reports to create performance goals that align with and provide line of sight to the strategic objectives and to create development goals to address performance gaps and career development
  • Meet with your team on a biweekly basis to build a relationship, build trust and rapport, determine motivators, build engagement, provide job expectations, review performance, career aspirations, and provide assistance with issues


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar field
  • 5 years experience in software development or similar industry field
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, presentation, and training skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills and ability to assess quickly complex problems
  • Industry knowledge of software development and operations support practices and procedures

Preferred:

  • Minimum 4 years experience leading a team
  • Experience in performance management, coaching, and teamwork fostering
