This position is for a qualified HVAC Refrigeration Technician and will oversee the commissioning, maintaining and repairing of refrigerated equipment. This position demands a broad skill set and equipment knowledge that encompasses the entire refrigeration spectrum, from small appliances and HVAC applications to multi-stage, cascade, heavy industrial, rotary screws and centrifugals.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely action in reply to out-of-spec conditions that negatively affect production areas.
  • Advise Refrigeration Department Supervisor regarding system inadequacies.
  • Inspect, Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems and components including centrifugal chillers, package roof tops; walk in coolers and freezers, self contained computer room cooling equipment, rotary screw chillers, environmental chambers and specialty tool chillers and refrigeration systems for fab tools.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Order stock and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Accurately complete required documentation (e.g., work orders).
  • Monitor technicians environmental documentation of refrigerant usage and appliance and refrigerant disposal in accordance with EPA regulations pertaining to 40CFR and the Clean Air Act.
  • Assist other trades in addressing production related concerns as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Flexible - Able to work any shift, 12 hours shift rotating from nights to days
  • Communication skills - able to understand written and verbal instructions (including procedure breakdowns, responding to phone, pager and emails
  • Have good PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Customer service oriented, to include answering pages and phones in a timely manner.
  • Required to wear appropriate safety equipment
  • Works well with limited supervision.
  • Understanding of environmental requirements and procedures relating to refrigeration as mandated by the Clean Air Act and 40 CFR.
  • Familiar with methods, practices and tools used in the service, repair and installation of refrigeration systems and appliances.
  • Familiar with Refrigeration theory, HVAC/R system design, equipment, requirements and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to close tolerances and specifications.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships.

Required

  • Must have journeyman HVAC license
  • Must possess a current EPA certification for Universal Refrigerant. Handling

Preferred

  • Refrigeration Service Technician (5 years experience).
