Mechanical Engineer

Efforts include typical mechanical designs for Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, air handlers, terminal units, central chillers, etc. Provides professional engineering expertise to manage construction, maintenance and service projects, which include the conception and planning stage, budgeting, preliminary layout, reviews, layout, design, development, and inspection of projects. Serves as the official Contracting Officers Representative (COR) and Project Inspector (PI) for construction, service, and maintenance contracts. Works extensively with campus space planner on space refits and renovations. Works extensively with campus trades staff on facility operations to include building automation and energy tracking systems. Responsible for maintaining accurate technical information in the Facility Asset Management System (FAMS) database as part of a team effort. Prepares construction documents to include specifications and drawings. Manages Consultant Design Contracts and Construction Contracts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Basic Requirements:
This position has a positive education requirement which requires you to have one of the following; A. Degree:
Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must:
(1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics:
(a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:
(1) Professional registration; (2) Written test - evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer in Training exam or the written test required for professional registration; (3) Specified academic courses - successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a professional engineering curriculum as described in paragraph A; or (4) Related curriculum - successful completion of curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, provided the applicant has at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Experience:
In addition to meeting the basic entry requirement, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education of the position to be found qualified. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade. To qualify for the GS-12 grade level, 1 year of creditable specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 is required. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to:
providing professional engineering services related to mechanical engineering; developing engineering designs, drawings, technical manuals, or other technical materials in the performance of mechanical engineering project work; reviewing test documentation and technical /engineering documentation to verify technical accuracy; performing as a Project Inspector or Contract Manager for construction projects; and/or designing or manufacturing mechanical devices and systems (e.g., HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and site utility systems) and their equipment or components. There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-12 and above grade levels. Selective Placement Factor(s):
This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor(s) will be rated not qualified. -Must possess a Professional Engineering License specialty qualified in Mechanical Discipline.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
