Position Summary
The NWRC requires an annual contract for IT support to include Microsoft network servers, Sun Solaris and Apple Mac servers, Microsoft Windows desktop and laptop workstations, Apple Mac workstations and laptops, and a network storage server appliance running a version of Linux (Guardian OS). Additional hardware includes printers, plotters, tape and disk external backup units, RAID disk arrays, routers and switches, and other miscellaneous IT equipment. The NWRC network consists of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012, Windows 7 and 8, Apple OS X 10.9 Server, and OS X 10.9 on four large workstations, a server and 5 laptops. The network supports the work of approximately 30 users, 5 of which are Mac users. Though most of the users work exclusively in the Windows environment, CPU intensive modeling is done on the Mac network. As much as 80% of the network CPU usage and storage is on the Mac network. This is a multi-architecture network where storage is shared by the Windows and Mac environments.
Installation, maintenance and support shall be required for approximately 30 workstations, 10 printers & plotters, and numerous peripheral and IT related pieces of equipment. This Statement of Work (SOW) requires the performance of services to maintain, analyze, implement, evaluate, optimize, document, integrate and provide support to the end-users, LAN, and connection to ARS WAN.
Administrative work will include maintaining Active Directory accounts and Exchange email accounts on both local and remote servers using agency approved administrative consoles. Assist in setup and maintenance of Open Directory on Mac Network.

Networking:
Networking is a horizontal system using private IP addresses with DNS provided from USDA.
Performance:
Certification by the Government of satisfactory services provided is contingent upon the contractor performing in accordance with the terms and conditions of the referenced contract, this SOW, the approved task proposal, any associated work orders, and all amendments.
Responsibilities
NWRC daily operations rely heavily on a wide variety of applications with Microsoft Office as our primary office productivity suite. We require a contractor with demonstrated technical expertise and hands on skills in deploying and maintaining Microsoft networks, Microsoft operating systems, and Microsoft Office. The contractor shall provide consulting services, including configuration, implementation, and repair of information technology systems involving desktops, laptop computers, and printers.
Administrative tasks include the creation and editing of Active Directory and Exchange accounts on local and remote servers using the agency approved administrative console. The contractor shall assist in the management and setup of Open Directory on the Mac network.
The contractor shall accomplish IT related activities for the NWRC under the direction of the Administrative Officer.
Scheduled Routine and Emergency Maintenance & Support Services: The contractor shall maintain a tape backup regime that includes providing tapes sets that may be stored offsite. The contractor will also make recommendations as to how to best achieve data integrity goals.
The contractor shall provide regular ongoing maintenance, support, upgrade, repair, problem resolution, and recovery services during regular or scheduled work hours as defined by the Administrative Officer and PWA IT Manager.
The contractor must be able to provision and secure servers to provide HTTP and FTP services for NWRC web sites.
Minimum Qualifications
System level expertise in Microsoft Exchange 2000 or higher (preferred - not required).
System level expert in Windows Server 2003. Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook.
Support available one regularly scheduled day per week with additional assistance within 24 hours of notification.
System level expert with Active Directory in support of accounts.
System level expertise in Mac OS X, including system utilities, file sharing and networking, and Time Machine backup utilities.
System level expertise in Sun Solaris, including NIS and related administrative utilities. Also expertise with the Samba file sharing utility. Expertise in Backup Exec, and both tape and Snap Server backups.
