Responsible for internal and external communications (including main website content and social marketing), media relations and events support.
Determines content topics, coordinates with others to obtain information, writes, edits, designs and sends to students, alumni, donors and community and business contacts.
Prepares and supervises the production of press releases, announcements, brochures, event materials, photographs, newsletters, etc.
Department Overview:
The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a full-time communications specialist to help share the stories of our faculty, our staff, and our vision with both internal and external stakeholders.
Home to a wide variety of departments, schools, and initiatives, the College of Arts and Sciences is eager to share the story of our student's successes, our innovative teaching, and our diverse research and creative activity mission.
This position is hybrid-eligible and reports to the Dean's Office.
Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity.
Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.
May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Typically hold a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.
Essential Functions:
60% of Time the Communications Specialist must:
Determines news-worthy stories, website and social media content, and which distribution strategies to implement.
Develops, organizes and executes public relations events for the specified department.
Leverage analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and seek continual improvements of marketing and communication initiatives.
Write, edit and coordinate distribution of information to market, promote and increase visibility of initiatives and accomplishments of the specific department.
Responsible for training all web content providers and serving as the main point of contact for problems, questions and concerns regarding the website.
Manage internal and external communications to project a positive image for the specified department.
May supervise staff or have leadwork responsibilities 35% of Time the Communications Specialist Develops and sends newsletters for College priority areas (may include College-owned Schools, development team, research mission, etc.
) Supports college and university-level initiatives, including capital campaign efforts and fundraising Creates speaking prep materials (researches and drafts talking points, designs and creates slides, generates images, etc.
) for the College Dean and executive leadership Works with campus stakeholders collaboratively to ensure representation of COAS departments in university news channels and events calendars Works with college leadership team to create and maintain college and school websites and social media content Works closely with departments, Schools, and Dean's Office staff to manage a consistent and holistic communications strategy, including print materials, social media presence, faculty, staff, and alumni outreach, and managing our web environment.
5% of Time the Communications Specialist Perform other duties as assigned Some evenings and weekend work may be required to support our events.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to code in HTML Excellent grammar, composition, and proofreading skills Advanced knowledge of design and publishing concepts Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2 years experience.

Some graphic design (or Marq) experience preferred Skilled in Microsoft PowerPoint and/or Google Slides Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud preferred Skilled in WordPress web domain preferred Experience supporting c-suite level communication efforts preferred Salary and

The salary for this position starts at $47,195.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
