1 CMT Technical Services (CMT) is interested in hiring an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to manage, coordinate, and oversee the laboratory equipment, operations, and staff needed to provide construction materials testing and reporting at CMT's expansion office in Boise, Idaho.
This position is for a working manager with experience in a high-production testing laboratory environment where safety, quality, and responsiveness are priorities.
This position plays a key role in opening an expansion office in Boise, Idaho (CMT has an office in nearby Meridian, Idaho).
Accordingly, the ideal candidate will have experience with laboratory setup, equipment calibration, and application of quality management systems and programs, and securing national and State of Idaho accreditations.

Compensation for this position is based on experience and ability to successfully manage the laboratory testing operation in accordance with CMT's quality and performance standards.

Localized travel throughout Boise, Idaho, may be required to support CMT's projects and clients, with occasional travel to other CMT offices or projects as necessary.
The Laboratory Supervisor is a dynamic leadership position and is expected to be a positive and motivating influence on CMT staff by actively promoting and living CMT's core values.
Consideration for this position is based on the candidates' alignment with the following desired abilities and experience Commitment to safe, professional, and productive laboratory operations management.
Ten years of laboratory testing experience with five years in a management or supervisory role.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and adherence with established laboratory sampling, testing, and reporting standards.
Certification by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) as a Concrete Strength Testing Technician and ACI Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1 or ability to secure within 60 days of hire.
Hiring preference will be given to those candidates with any of the following additional certifications:
ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Levels 1 or 2 certifications.
National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), Construction Materials Testing:
Asphalt, Concrete, Soils (levels I, II, or III).
Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC) certification for Aggregate Testing Technician (AgTT), Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician (CLTT), and/or Concrete Testing Technician (CTT).
High School diploma or equivalent.
However, hiring preference will be given to those with advanced degrees in engineering technology, construction engineering-related field, construction management, or other applicable fields.
High level of organization and communication, including the ability to coordinate and focus staff, resources, and efforts on multiple priorities.
Ability to lead, inspire, grow, and mentor employees to success.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient technical writer/detailed reviewer of data/reports.
Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to work weekends, overtime, non-standard hours, and holidays (when necessary) to meet project and client delivery expectations.
A good work ethic and a high level of personal integrity.

Laboratory Supervisor Position Description, Role & Responsibilities Position responsibilities may include:
Promote, sustain, and demonstrate CMT's values and safety commitment.
Responsible for making sure project deadlines are met by providing proper scheduling, coordination, and organization of items to be tested and available resources.
Including, when necessary, personally performing laboratory testing to project and client delivery expectations.
Oversee and able to perform routine to complex lab testing, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and masonry grout materials.
Responsible for performing the testing, documentation, computations, and quality review in accordance with CMT's Quality System Manual, applicable testing specifications, and the professional standard of care.
Ensures that laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with internal procedures.
Maintenance of CMT's laboratory accreditations.
Prudently manages resources and staff to ensure efficiency and quality.
Provides support on marketing and proposal efforts as required.
Experienced in establishing and maintaining relationships through excellent communication, professionalism, and client service focus to both internal and external clients.
Supervise operational personnel (laboratory staff), including resource coordination, internal quality control, and deliverables management.
Communicate with clients, staff, and supervisors to successfully and profitably deliver laboratory services on a consistent basis.
Provide technical leadership and guidance for staff.
Represent CMT with local and national professional organizations.
