Aquaculture/Fisheries Engineer

Design a career and build your future Because it matters!McMillen is seeking an Aquaculture Engineer to assist in the planning and design of practical and efficient aquaculture systems for cold, cool, and warm water species as well as anadromous salmonids for freshwater facilities.
Marine aquaculture experience not required but beneficial.
Experience with the design of upstream and downstream fish collection facilities, fish passage, fish screening, acclimation facilities, and aquaculture water treatment is preferred.
Ideal candidates will have 10-15 years of aquaculture engineering design experience.
The preferred location for this position is in Kirkland, Boise, Denver, Sacramento or Portland, but will consider remote or hybrid arrangements depending on experience.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Perform site investigations and/or inspections and provide detailed assessment condition reports for existing aquaculture and fish passage facilities.
Develop construction documents (plans and specifications) for aquaculture and fish passage facilities including design calculations, technical reports, figures, conceptual drawings, feasibility analysis, alternatives analysis, and long-range planning documents.
Support development of permit documents (including figures) to meet federal, state and local permitting requirements.
Complete analysis and design of pressurized and open channel water conveyance systems.
Perform and/or supervise cost estimating for schematic, preliminary, and final design phases.
Support and provide guidance to CAD technicians as part of design drawing development.
Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Provide construction engineering support and management.
Develop engineering fee proposals, track project budgets, and prepare monthly progress reports and invoices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University.
Master's degree preferred.
PE Required; NCEES registration preferred.
Considerable/Broad knowledge in aquaculture techniques, fish health issues and appropriate treatment strategies, hatchery operations and project management.
Considerable knowledge of hatchery facility construction and maintenance requirements and techniques.
Extensive experience with design, layout, and specifications related to aquaculture projects.
Considerable knowledge developing bio-programs, water and space requirements, and hatchery bio-security.
Demonstrated experience with cold water, cool water, warm water and recirculating aquaculture.
Understanding and experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, water conveyance, storm water networks, civil grading, water treatment, wastewater treatment and pump stations.
Experience developing individual or system-wide hatchery plans.
Considerable knowledge and demonstrated experience with invasive species and methods for excluding or minimizing impacts:
zebra mussels, Asian carp.
Experience with Tribal, State and Federal fish and wildlife program managers and U.
S.
Army Corps of Engineers is a plus.
Skilled in use of PC and Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Excel, Access; Demonstrated ability to create reports and prepare detailed calculation packages.
AutoCAD civil 3D experience preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to interpret and analyze complex data, calculate mathematical problems, produce technical reports and communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
Knowledge of codes and standards related to civil design.
Compensation Package:
Pay Range:
$110,000 - $165,000 annual
