The Technology and Products Group (TPG) Data Science team provides solutions to complex problems in in semiconductor process, design, product engineering, and systems engineering across Micron s DRAM, NAND, and 3DXP portfolio. The team has two focus areas:

  1. Enabling advanced modeling and algorithm development across a broad spectrum of problems to accelerate process and product technology solutions and decision making.
  1. Using vast streams of data (structured and unstructured) and developing intelligence around these data streams to help technology and product development engineers develop semiconductor solutions faster.

Within the TPG DS organization we are hiring for Data Scientists in Product Design, and Product Engineering. The TPG Data Science team will collaborate closely with all TPG Engineering teams to develop and implement these solutions.

As a Design Data Scientist, you will work on applying Data Science concepts to product design implementation and optimization, Electronic Design Optimization (EDA), design flows, improving design quality and throughput, as well as accelerating verification.

As a Product Engineering Data Scientist, you will work on applying Data Science concepts to improve time to market, post-silicon validation, ramp enablement, product quality / reliability.

This role is an opportunity to challenge the status quo and address the complexity and difficulty of designing, verifying, and validating high density memory and storage chips/systems with huge scale of circuit capability, Ultra-High Speed, complicated functionality, advanced low power and power management technology.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with functional engineers, data scientists, data engineers, business areas engineers to develop well-defined problem statements to challenging problems
  • Develop machine learning algorithms, automated processes, and software using large datasets from multiple disparate sources
  • Collaborate with peers globally to establish Best Known Methods (BKMs) for standards, efficiency, and deployment
  • Drive action through effective data presentation and data story telling

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding and application of Machine Learning algorithms
  • Experienced in modern Machine Learning libraries and in working with high dimensional, skewed and frequently changing datasets
  • Proficient in Python and/or R, in PySpark and/or SparkR, and in executing data extraction from variety of data sources (Teradata, Snowflake, Oracle, MS SQL)
  • Ability to design and coordinate projects across multiple departments globally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in Semiconductor Design, Product Engineering, or Manufacturing flows preferred
  • Experience in statistical modeling and feature extraction desired
  • Experience in Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, and HBase desired

Education and
Experience:

  • Masters or PhD and several years of industry experience majoring in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, or equivalent
  • Semiconductor industry experience and/or knowledge preferred
