Are you interested in modeling the future? As Solid State Drive (SSD) FW Simulation Engineers at Micron Technology, Inc., we develop simulations and models for FW components for sophisticated storage technologies. Our work goes toward optimizing the potential of the latest groundbreaking storage technology that you find within your phone all the to the largest supercomputers on Earth! We are work closely with; Firmware developers, system architects, firmware architects, firmware test architects, system hardware design engineers, product engineers, and memory architecture engineers to develop simulations. We also partner with project teams to isolate, characterize and resolve issues using unit and system level test and verification. These activities entail choosing the appropriate simulation tools/environment, constructing or modifying component models, source code development, as well as code review and maintenance.

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in electrical engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or closely related field (must be from accredited college or university)
  • Over 5 years of demonstrated ability working in storage industry and at least 2 years of experience developing FW/SW simulation models
  • Knowledge of design and implementation of multitasking, event driven SW/FW models
  • Must have C/C+
    experience; Python experience is a strong preference
  • Ability to build software models based on device data sheets, and/or standards specifications
  • Firmware/software development environments including compilers, debuggers, emulators, and tool chains
  • Developing unit tests for code quality validation
  • Ability to quickly react and adapt to changes based on modeling results
  • Exposure to SW development practices
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of data manipulation and memory-management algorithms in NAND flash memories
  • Experience with storage interfaces (SATA, SAS, NVME)
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and written skills
  • Ability to be highly organized and self-motivated
  • Must be a strong individual contributor as well as a standout colleague
  • Experience with Jenkins
  • Linux experience is helpful
