Summary
Under general supervision and following prescribed procedures, this role secures cost-effective transportation from different sources (company fleet, contract carriers, brokers, and spot market) to meet customer's needs while maintaining profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifies and implements scheduling of carriers on round-trip and continuous moves to increase profitability.
- Actively supports Routing Guide adherence by selecting from lane specific pool of approved carriers, overseeing all shipping transactions, and collaborating with cross functional teams when issues arise.
- Responsible for soliciting/receiving customer orders and then processing orders through information systems.
Resolves problems with shipments including service delays, date changes, and appointment issues. - Monitors tracking, tracing, and troubleshooting all issues regarding rail & Simplot fleet assets.
- Responsible for coordinating North American LTL moves
- Quickly addresses various transportation issues (late loads, dropped loads, appointment issues, held orders, date changes, etc.
) while proactively communicating to both internal and external customers.
- Actively pursues premium freight mitigation when entering spot market
- Occasional weekends required

Typical Education
Associate's Degree (A.A.
or equivalent)
Relevant Experience
5years related experience and/or training

Knowledge:
This is a senior level job to the Transportation Coordinator job family requiring comprehensive knowledge of domestic transportation industry.
Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Skills:
Advanced understanding of the domestic transportation industry to help with the adaptation of procedures, processes and techniques that address ever evolving market conditions.
Collaboratively works with cross functional team members to resolve opportunities or challenges.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
