# The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for temporary part-time Tax Auditor 1 positions in the Audit Division's Tax Discovery Bureau in Boise
The Tax Commission is recruiting for individuals interested in a customer-focused work environment. Successful candidates would demonstrate the ability to work independently, show initiative, and have excellent communication skills. The preferred candidate would have knowledge in a specific tax type, such as individual, business or withholding, and familiarity with data analysis and various research methods.
This position will be filled on a temporary part-time basis for an indefinite duration. The flexible work schedule is 19.5 hours per week with a non-negotiable starting salary of $17.78 per hour. This position does not have benefits. Temporary positions are exempt from classified state service, the rules of the Division of Human Resources, and the Idaho Personnel Commission.
Tax Auditor 1 positions are characterized by the inclusion of work that is analytical, creative, evaluative and advisory in nature. The work draws upon and requires a thorough knowledge of the fundamental doctrines, theories, principles and terminology of accountancy (GAAP). Incumbents use their professional background to prepare, analyze and/or audit financial records and documents, accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, budgets, tax and payroll records and other related documents. Generally, incumbents prepare reports of findings, conclusions or recommendations.
_PRINCIPAL
Responsibilities:_
Review accounting systems, financial statements, work papers, tax and payroll records and other related documents.
Research and analyze data for accuracy to ensure compliance with State tax laws and regulations.
Prepare audit findings and summaries.
Identify legal issues and apply appropriate statute, rules and legal precedents.
Participate in team audits.

Qualifications:_
Good knowledge accounting principles and practices

Individuals must be a current tax filer and be in full compliance with their tax obligations to be an employee of the Idaho State Tax Commission.
