Summary:
The Content Editor writes and edits premium site content for while assisting with management of staff and content.
Roles and
Responsibilities:
Plan, assign (mostly to freelance writers), edit, and write content for the site
Assist the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor and Senior Editor in leading the editorial team
Keep current on reference material and information sources specific to the publishing trade and the fitness and dietary supplement industries
Cultivate relationships with new writers while managing existing ones
Assist with sidebars, headlines, and captions as needed
Develop fresh content ideas with team members, the video production crew, and external parties
Curate and cultivate online conversations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
Must have a smart, clever writing voice and a creative flair for developing ideas
Ability to juggle large amounts of copy and multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of HTML, or the desire to learn it quickly and well
A self-starter who is not afraid to brainstorm and propose new ideas
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field (Master's degree preferred)
2-3 years of editing experience on a major fitness magazine or website, plus some reporting and writing experience
