Boise, ID Boise, ID Seasonal Seasonal $25 an hour $25 an hour 10 days ago 10 days ago 10 days ago Description State of Idaho Opportunity The Office of Drug Policy (ODP) leads Idaho's substance use and misuse policy and prevention efforts by developing and implementing strategic action plans and collaborative partnerships to reduce drug use and related consequences.
We are looking for an experienced, reliable, and project-oriented Policy and Research Analyst at the Office of Drug Policy.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, initiative, and positive attitude.
The candidate should be able to collect, analyze, present, and interpret data, as well as assist with the coordination and evaluation of statewide prevention programs and activities.
They will have interactions with the Governor's Office, State Legislators, community stakeholders and the public.
This person will report to the Agency Director.

Summary:
To plan, conduct, coordinate, and communicate research and writing projects; perform related work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Develops procedures and tools for data collections, writes technical documentation, builds, and maintains datasets, and performs data/statistical analysis.
Identifies and recommends evidence-based prevention programs, practices and strategies relating to substance misuse prevention services in Idaho based on a national body of evidence.
Assists with tracking and reporting SAMHSA's National Outcome Measures and the implementation of SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework Model.
Provides leadership and direction to the State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW), Evidence Based Practices Workgroup, the Idaho Opioid Misuse and Overdose Strategic Plan, the Idaho College Health Coalition, ODP facilitated workgroups, and other government agencies in compiling, analyzing, interpreting, reporting, and presenting data related to substance misuse prevention.
Acts as the Project Manager for the bi-annual Idaho Healthy Youth Survey.
Develops Statewide Substance Misuse Prevention Needs Assessment and regularly creates and updates fact sheets and infographics to visually represent assessment data for public consumption.
Utilizes computer applications, programs and/or databases to perform data analysis.
Works closely with ODP grantees and third-party evaluator to develop procedures, surveys, and forms for data collection for program evaluation and outcome measurement reporting.
Assists with project management of grant funded activities as needed.
Manages datasets used to support external dashboards and internal research.
Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to develop good working relationships are essential.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Experience interpreting and communicating (orally and in writing) statistical material into information usable by a target audience.
Good knowledge of statistics and research methods.
Typically gained by successful completion of at least 6 credits of college-level coursework that covered research methods, OR at least 2 years of experience that required the use of reference and research methods to complete major tasks.
Experience compiling and analyzing statistical data and drawing conclusions.
Typically gained by approximately one year of experience developing procedures and tools for data collections, writing technical and summary documentation, building, and maintaining datasets and dashboards, performing data/statistical analysis, and drawing conclusions.
Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS, ArcGIS, and WordPress.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in public health, Health Promotion, or related field.
Preferred candidates will have some knowledge of substance misuse prevention theory/strategies.
Preferred candidates will have some experience collecting, organizing, and evaluating data and writing a narrative report of findings.
Preferred candidates will have experience with project management.
Furthermore, experience supporting grantees and grant-funded projects and activities is desired.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Limited in-state travel may be required.
Out-of-state travel may be required up to twice per year.
Ability to organize and complete multiple unrelated tasks within established timeframes.
Excellent verbal, written, and general communication skills.
