The Mission of the Commission of Pardons and Parole is committed to the protection of the public, the rights of victims and to the fair and individualized assessment of each offender.
The Commission of Pardons and Parole (COPP) has an opening for a Government Liaison Specialist to fill the role of Victim Services Coordinator in Boise. This position works closely with the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) and internal stakeholders dealing with time sensitive information. The ideal candidate will have experience, training, or education related to providing support to Crime Victims in highly desired.

NOTE: Applicants must be willing to work in a correctional facility.

Responsibilities:_
__ Technical assistance and consultative service:
Initiate and provide ongoing contact with victims to provide required notification of rights, hearings and appeals, and to determine desire to pursue restitution.
Prepare victims to testify.
Maintain contact and rapport with victims to keep them advised of case status and to maintain current information on victim availability.
Keep all case parties informed of the legal process and serve as liaison with other agencies and victim advocacy groups.
Program Administration:
Establish and maintain effective public relations and working relations with other agencies including court system, law enforcement agencies, victim advocacy groups and jurisdictions.
Plan, evaluate, and consult on proposals best designed to meet the needs and objectives of the agency.
Provide state-wide program coordination and advisory services for state victim rights laws, rules and regulations.
Work proactively with representatives of other governmental groups, private organizations, and the general public in resolving problems, defining needs and comprehensive service programs.
Training coordination:
Assist with training in coordination with other governmental groups, law enforcement, and private organizations regarding crime victims and the parole process.
_MINIMUM
Qualifications:_
Good knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations regarding the confidentiality and safeguarding of citizen and governmental information
Some knowledge of training methods
Experience interpreting, explaining and applying laws, regulations and complex policies
Experience developing and making presentations before groups
Experience preparing narrative reports, conducting fact-finding interviews, as well as composing business letters and documents

Willing to work in a correctional facility

To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:
Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
Having a history of law-abiding behavior
Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI's, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment
Non-hiring restrictions are in place for candidates who:
Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody
Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be released from IDOC supervision or probation for at least one year)
