The Department of Water Resources currently has an opening for Water Resource Agent. This recruitment will be used to fill the current opening in the Western Regional office in Boise. Water Resource Agent, Senior is the full working level of the position. The Water Resource Agent classification may be used for recruitment and training purposes. Typically the Senior level requires 2 years experience as a Water Resource Agent.

Responsibilities:
Performs technical aspects of field and office duties in implementation of Idaho water laws.
Provides technical assistance to the public.
Conducts scientific field examinations to measure the rate of water diversion and determine location, method, purpose and frequency of appropriation and makes recommendations regarding extent of beneficial use.
Interprets legal descriptions, survey plats, aerial photographs and maps to locate points of diversion and place of use.
Reviews various department regulatory program applications for correctness, and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and department policies.
Investigates unauthorized water diversions and water right disputes.
Conducts stream flow measurements.
Explains water laws and regulations to individuals and groups.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Good knowledge of hydrology, hydrogeology, hydraulics, and/or water measurement techniques for determining water quantity parameters such as flow rate, volume, pump efficiencies, and storage capacities.
Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to calculate water flow rates, pump efficiencies, water storage capacity, and/or land areas.
Experience interpreting public land survey legal descriptions utilizing at least one of the following: USGS quadrangle maps, survey plats, or similar cartographic material.
One to two years of higher technical training preferred.
Desirable Qualification:
Background with aerial photography, satellite imagery, global positioning systems, or geographic information systems.
