MEMBERSHIP IN THE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD IS REQUIRED: This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Idaho Army National Guard as a condition of employment. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Loss of military membership will result in immediate loss of your full-time military technician position.

MAJOR DUTIES:(Detailed duties are on the Position Description available at the Human Resources Office)
The purpose of the position is to plan, program, coordinate, and direct visual information through consultation, analysis, design, development, procurement, production, and/or reproduction of Visual Information (VI) products and services. Visual information consists of visual materials such as pamphlets, graphs and charts, diagrams, models, slides, live or video recorded speeches or lectures or web page designs.
b. _DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES_
Schedules all activities related to the full range of VI products and services for the state such as still photography (photo-chemical and digital video), manual and computer-generated graphics, presentation services (conference rooms and classrooms), VI equipment and product loan, video (acquisition, production, post-production and duplication), audio (production and duplication), video teleconferencing, closed circuit television, and master antenna and cable television.
Directs design of unique projects from inception to completion through application of innovative solutions in the use of multimedia technologies. Accepts or rejects customer produced or procured materials. Analyzes statistical information, personnel data, or general descriptions of information to be visually depicted. Selects appropriate visual media for the project that will best represent the information to be presented. Supports production of electronic and printed material in the form of slides, displays, newsletters, pamphlets, web pages, posters, and leaflets for various activities. Directs page layouts allowing for line art, photographs, graphs and other graphics.
Analyzes the requirements for customers to use and schedules VI products, services, consultation, facilities (studio or presentation room) and equipment to support functional areas, to include command and control, training, logistics, medical, personnel, special operations, engineering, and public affairs.
Supports the state's Visual Information Support Center with emphasis on maximizing the capabilities of using localized WebEx conferencing and online collaboration capabilities to reduce costs associated with travel. Responsible for training and coordinating WebEx equipment usage with a special emphasis on utilization, deployment and training of locally hosted WebEx. Under the supervision of the VIS Manager, has access and organizes stock videos, audio computer graphics, slides, photographs, line drawings and hardcopy clip art libraries (to include manuals, CD ROMs, videotapes, videodisks, etc.). Coordinates VI usage logs and submits required reports.
Supports the installation, set up, and technical support of the state's Distributed Training Technology (DTT) / Distance Learning Network (DLN).
Ensures that VIOS (Visual Information Order Service) is the primary web-based tool to capture time and resources utilized to render visual information services for the state. Supports the supervisor in generating accurate data for use in Information Technology Metrics and Installation Status Reporting to NGB.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work involves supervising or performing work communicating information through visual means (i.e., design and display of photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, objects, models, slides, charts used in books, magazines, pamphlets, exhibits, live or video recorded speeches or lectures, and other means of communicating). Presents information in a visual form that will convey the intended message to, or have the desired effect on, the intended audience.
Experience, education, or training in a variety of principles of visual design. Knowledge of various methods of visual display and the ability to present information in a visual form that will convey the intended message to, or have the desired effect on, the intended audience. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Within your application package, you must explain how you gained the specialized experience required for this position. Applicants applying at theGS 09 level must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training determining the best method and media to accomplish a design and to develop and produce a variety of requested visual products. Experience planning and managing the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings and various kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means.
SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Substitution of Education for Specialized
Experience:
A maximum of 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours. The education must have been in fields directly related to the type of work of the position, (i.e., art, design, art history, visual communication, etc).
